The Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Regulator (ANNPSR) is committed to maintaining a safe, healthy, and secure working environment for our workers, visitors, and people who are impacted by its operations. Strengthening our safety performance is a key area of ongoing focus, with the safety of our people and the public at the core of everything we do.
ANNPSR will strive to ensure the highest level of work health and safety (WHS), consistent in discharging its obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and subordinate safety legislation. This commitment extends to ensuring WHS policy and management systems are aligned to relevant Australian standards.
ANNPSR recognises that WHS is a collective responsibility. Achieving a healthy and safe workplace requires active engagement from all workers, at every level. ANNPSR will foster a workplace culture that prioritises both physical and psychological safety to enable individuals to perform at their best while contributing to the safety and effectiveness of Australia's Naval Nuclear Power Safety program.
Our leadership plays a vital role in supporting a safe and healthy workforce by championing a safety culture that is flexible, inclusive and free from bullying, harassment and discrimination. Our organisational strategies reinforce this commitment, providing us a framework to measure our growth and facilitate continuous improvement.
To uphold our commitment, ANNPSR will:
- Comply with all applicable WHS legislation and associated legislation;
- Implement a continuous improvement approach to WHS through regular review and enhancement of safety systems and procedures;
- Identify hazards, manage risks, and prevent injury or illness, with a strong focus on both physical and psychological wellbeing;
- Establish and monitor measurable WHS objectives and targets to drive performance and accountability;
- Consult and collaborate to ensure effective WHS management;
- Ensure all personnel receive appropriate WHS training, instruction, and supervision, tailored to the unique risks associated with nuclear regulatory work.
Health, safety and welfare in the workplace is integral to the success of ANNPSR's everyday business. It is in everyone's best interests for us to come together and practice sound health and safety principles in all that we do. This creates a safe culture in how we operate and deliver services.
