Privacy impact assessment register
A privacy impact assessment (PIA) is a review of an activity that identifies the impact it might have on the privacy of individuals, and sets out recommendations for managing, minimising or eliminating that impact.
Conducting a PIA helps the Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Regulator (ANNPSR) to ensure privacy compliance and identify better practice within the organisation.
As a non-corporate Commonwealth entity, ANNPSR has an obligation to conduct a PIA for all high privacy-risk activities and to maintain a PIA register for publication on the ANNPSR website.
