An inspector's role is to monitor and ensure compliance with the licence conditions, investigate any non-compliance found, and take enforcement action if necessary.
Inspectors have the powers to:
give directions
give Improvement notices
make requirements of persons representing the licence holder
give prohibition notices.
Inspectors may investigatefacility and material activities by:
entering monitoring areas and investigation areas
conducting searches
operating equipment
securing or seizing evidence.
Some inspector powers may only be exercised with consent or a warrant.
Inspectors may be assisted by other persons called ‘persons assisting’, who may exercise the same powers as the inspector.
